RMD Gallery & Framing Studio was started about 3 years ago, as what was known as RMD Photography. The owners Rob & Michele DeLong started showing their photography in fine art shows around the area.In June of 2005, an opportunity to open a “retail” location came about. In just less than a year's time, the gallery and framing studio has placed itself as a premier location for local arts and outstanding custom framing and matting.
Robert DeLong is a lifelong resident of the Springfield area and has enjoyed growing up in the historically saturated main-streets of the capital of Illinois.Rob has been involved with photography for many years doing weddings and other special events, but his true love of nature and the outdoors has been presented in the works of art that he has shown in the local area.Rob can be found working on any given project anytime of day.It may be formulating a method to display that special photograph or work of art, creating an original frame or display, or working on that simple but all so important works of art by children of the area. Rob is a former computer specialist who enjoys graphic design and multi-media. He is also active in community theater as a performer, sound technician, and special effects guru.
Michele DeLong has worked with the fine arts department in area school districts and has always had a love of photography, but never had a chance to develop her skills until she met her husband and now has become an award winning photographer. Her images have been placed in the new Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum, Springfield School District administrative office, and what is now known as Chase Bank. Michele has a love of nature and of life. You can see her passion flow out of the some of the photography she has taken.Michele is greatly involved with local area theater groups as orchestra conductor and vocal director, as well as been on stage in a number of productions. Some of her recent activities have included Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Sound of Music, and Scrooge the Musical.Although Michele still works as a teacher in Springfield School District 186, she can be found in the gallery much of the time on weeknights and weekends.
